Eyebrow Threading Dundee

You want your eyebrows tidied up but you don't want wax anywhere near them. Maybe your skin reacts to wax with redness that lasts the rest of the day. Maybe you've had wax rip off more brow than you wanted. Maybe you just prefer a method that doesn't involve hot product being applied next to your eyes. You want precise, clean, controlled shaping without any chemicals, adhesives, or heat touching the delicate skin around your brows.

Eyebrow threading gives you exactly that. A twisted cotton thread removes individual hairs from the root with precision that wax can't match. Nothing touches your skin except thread. No redness from adhesives. No risk of burns from hot wax. No chemicals. Just clean, sharp brows shaped by someone who does this every single day.

At Aesthete Beauty in Dundee, eyebrow threading is carried out by Radina Ignatova, with over 11 years of experience in brow shaping. Her threading technique is fast, controlled, and consistently described by clients as painless with a perfect finish. Eyebrow Threading from £18. Book online any time or call us on 01382 217888.

I booked for the first time a whole facial threading appointment, and I am so glad I found Aesthete. Radina has a light touch, applying a solution before threading to reduce skin irritation and another solution afterwards to calm my skin. Best experience to date. I would highly recommend Radina.

The Technique

What is Eyebrow Threading?

Eyebrow threading is a hair removal technique that uses a twisted cotton thread to remove individual hairs from the root. The thread is looped and twisted between the practitioner's fingers, then rolled across the skin surface. As the twist moves, it catches individual hairs in its grip and lifts them out of the follicle cleanly.

The technique originated in South Asia and the Middle East and has been used for centuries. It remains the most precise method available for eyebrow shaping because each hair is targeted individually. Wax removes hair in strips, which means you get whatever the strip covers. Thread catches exactly the hairs you want removed and leaves the rest untouched.

Nothing touches your skin except cotton thread. No wax. No adhesive. No chemical. No heat. This is why threading is the preferred method for anyone with sensitive skin around the eyes. If your skin reacts to wax, threading eliminates the cause of the reaction entirely.

One thing worth knowing: some threading practitioners hold one end of the thread in their mouth while they work. It's a traditional technique and the thread doesn't touch the client's skin from that end, but plenty of people find it off-putting. Radina doesn't do this. She holds both ends of the thread with her fingers. Hands only. No thread-in-mouth technique.

Had a gel manicure, eyebrow threading and tinting. First class experience for all treatments and have booked again. Radina was lovely from start to finish. Would definitely recommend.

The Comparison

Threading vs Waxing for Eyebrows

Both methods remove hair from the root and give results lasting 3 to 4 weeks. Here's why you might choose threading over waxing.

Precision. Threading targets individual hairs. Waxing removes everything under the strip. For detailed shaping work, threading gives you more control over which hairs stay and which go.

Sensitive skin. Threading uses no product on your skin. Waxing involves hot adhesive. If your skin around the eyes is sensitive, reactive, or prone to redness after wax, threading is the safer choice.

No chemicals. Just cotton thread. Nothing else touches your skin. No risk of allergic reaction to wax ingredients.

Same results, same duration. Both last 3 to 4 weeks. Both remove hair from the root. The difference is how they do it, not how long the result lasts.

Both available at Aesthete Beauty. If you prefer waxing and your skin handles it well, that's available too (Eyebrow Waxing £18). Radina can recommend based on your skin type.

If you've never had threading before, the first appointment can feel a bit sharp. It's a pulling sensation rather than actual pain, and it's over quickly because the whole treatment takes 15 minutes. What most clients notice is that it gets easier every time. Regular threading means the regrowth comes back finer and sparser, so there's less to remove and it feels gentler each visit. By your fourth visit you barely notice it.

Always great service! It's a friendly, clean boutique salon. I come here for threading and it's painless and a perfect finish

Know the Difference

Threading Tidy vs Eyebrow Reshaping

Eyebrow threading at £18 is a tidy-up service. It maintains an existing brow shape by removing the overgrowth. If your brows already have a good shape and you just need them cleaned up, threading is the right service.

If your brows need a completely new shape (maybe they've never been professionally shaped, or you've been over-plucking, or you want a different look), an Eyebrow Reshaping (£22) is the better option. Reshaping involves mapping the ideal shape for your face before any hair is removed, then shaping to that map.

After a reshape, regular threading tidy-ups maintain the new shape between visits.

Is It For You?

Is Eyebrow Threading Right for You?

Eyebrow threading is the right choice if any of these sound familiar:

  • Your skin is sensitive and reacts to wax with redness, bumps, or irritation
  • You want precise brow shaping without any chemicals or hot products near your eyes
  • You prefer a natural, chemical-free hair removal method
  • Your brows have a good shape and just need the overgrowth cleaned up
  • You want a quick treatment that takes 10 to 15 minutes
  • You've had threading before and prefer it over waxing
  • You want defined, clean brows maintained between reshaping appointments

If your brows need a new shape rather than a tidy-up, book an Eyebrow Reshaping instead. If you want colour added to your brows as well, consider Deluxe Eyebrows (£35) which combines shaping with tinting.

Your Appointment

What to Expect at Your Eyebrow Threading Appointment

All tools and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and hygienically prepared between every client. Fresh towels, sanitised surfaces, and a clean workspace are standard for every appointment.

The treatment takes around 10 to 15 minutes.

First-time clients receive a short digital consultation form by email before their appointment covering skin sensitivities, allergies, and any previous reactions. No patch test is needed for threading because no chemicals or dyes are involved.

01

Assessment

Radina looks at your brow shape, your natural growth pattern, and the areas that need tidying. If you have a specific shape preference, now is the time to mention it.

02

Threading

Radina holds the twisted cotton thread between her fingers and rolls it across the skin around your brows. The thread catches individual hairs in its twist and removes them from the root. She works methodically around the brow, cleaning up the arch, the tail, and the area between the brows.

03

Checking symmetry

After the initial threading, Radina checks both brows from multiple angles to ensure they're symmetrical and even. Any stray hairs that were missed are removed individually.

04

Soothing

A calming product is applied to reduce any redness and settle the skin. Most clients have minimal redness that fades within an hour.

A fresh length of cotton thread is used for every client and disposed of after the treatment. Any tweezers used for stray hairs are cleaned with Vodex antibacterial solution and sterilised. Gloves throughout. Treatment area wiped down between every client.

The whole process is quick, precise, and far less painful than most people expect. The sensation is a mild pulling, not a sharp sting.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Eyebrow Threading in Dundee

Q

How much does eyebrow threading cost?

£18 for a tidy-up. Eyebrow Reshaping is £22 if you need a new shape. All pricing is in the online booking system.

Q

Does eyebrow threading hurt?

Most clients describe it as a mild pulling sensation, not pain. Radina's technique is fast and controlled. Clients consistently say it's less painful than they expected. A calming product is applied afterwards to soothe the skin.

Q

How long does eyebrow threading last?

3 to 4 weeks before regrowth starts. The hair is removed from the root, so it takes a full growth cycle to come back. Regular threading keeps your brows consistently defined.

Q

How long does the treatment take?

10 to 15 minutes for a tidy-up.

Q

Is threading better than waxing for eyebrows?

Threading is more precise and better for sensitive skin. Waxing is slightly faster. Both cost £18 and last 3 to 4 weeks. Radina offers both and can recommend based on your skin.

Q

What's the difference between threading and reshaping?

Threading (£18) tidies up an existing shape. Reshaping (£22) creates a new shape designed for your face. Book threading for maintenance, reshaping when you want a new look.

Q

Do I need a patch test?

No. Threading uses only cotton thread. No chemicals, dyes, or products are involved.

Q

Can I combine threading with tinting?

Yes. Book Deluxe Eyebrows (£35) for shaping plus colour in one appointment, or book threading and tinting as separate services.

Q

Does the threader hold the thread in their mouth?

No. Radina holds both ends of the thread with her fingers. Some practitioners use a mouth-held technique where one end is gripped between their teeth. Radina doesn't. Hands only. It's worth asking wherever you go.

Q

Can I wear makeup straight after eyebrow threading?

Best to wait a few hours. Threading removes hair from the root, so the follicles are open afterwards. Radina applies a soothing product to calm the skin, but putting makeup on straight away can clog those open follicles and cause small breakouts. Give it the rest of the day if you can, and by morning your skin will have settled completely.
